We're leaving tomorrow. One year goes very quickly when you are busy and having a good time. We came to Cambodia committed to stay for six months but couldn't leave in the middle of something worthwhile so we stayed on. The project is not complete of course, but it's time for a break. We need to do nothing for a few weeks to recharge our batteries, and the schools here need to struggle on their own for a while to find out just what they are capable of. In any case, INitiate will be sending over a new volunteer in November so they have not been abandoned. Our last week has been full of goodbyes, but none too sad as we could say "see you next year" and for once know that it was likely to come true. Mr Lim took us for a farewell dinner at a Japanese restaurant, we had a small party with one school and a few students brought us small presents, but on the whole our leaving has been deliberately low key. We have no time and no energy for tears, though of course it is sad to be leaving so many good friends. We had to tell little Rith that we were going to the airport at 3 a.m. to stop him trying to come with us, so we'll have to keep our heads down as we left the factory gates at eight the tomorrow morning. The months go by very slowly to a small boy...
